Liberal Control of Washington
Posted by: Todd MacLeod - Category: Presidential Politics
A short list of some of the immediate policy changes and consequences that we will have to look forward to if liberals control the executive and legislative branches of government:
- As Joe Biden has warned us ( Hat Tip to Michelle Malkin ), President Obama, whose weakness is pronounced, will be immediately tested by world leaders who do not have our best interests at heart. Senator Biden has also warned us that we will not like Obama’s response to this test, meaning what? What type of response would America not like to an existential threat? A weak and cowering response.
- Immediate expansion of government on a scale not seen since FDR. This will mean more funding for failed social programs combined with the creation of more social programs with entrenched bureaucracies and never ending budgets.
- Immediate increase of taxes on all Americans that pay taxes. Despite Barack Obama’s claim of lower income taxes for 95% of our population, only 60% of Americans pay taxes. Senator Obama has promised an increase in capital gains tax, an increase in income taxes and raising the income exemption on payroll taxes. In short, massive, unchecked tax increases specifically targeting demographics who wouldn’t vote for Obama in the first place. Now that is redistribution.
- Defunding of defense initiatives and of the military. Barack Obama has openly stated that he will defund defense spending. Much of the monies he has allocated for his spending programs are simply a diversion of funds that are now being spent on our national defense in the Middle East. Barack’s ’surrender dividend’ will go to domestic spending programs, whose sole intention is to make people more dependent on government and more likely to vote for the party who will keep-the-checks-coming.
- The Supreme Court will be reinforced with justices in the mold of Ruth Bader-Ginsburg. We will, more than likely, see two immediate resignations from the court, Bader-Ginsburg and Stevens. Two liberals who will be replaced by individuals who are more liberal. No opportunity to move the court into a more constructionist mode. Remember, we were one vote away from losing our second amendment rights this past year. If one member of the five justices that voted to preserve our right to bear arms resigns, you will see that case again, with potential catastrophic results.
- The lower courts will be packed with liberal justices bent on legislating from the bench. This country will be subject to two generations of judicial rulings that will be sure to accomplish all of the social engineering that the liberals can not pass legislatively.
- The American experiment will be consistently described as a failure and Obama will reinforce the victim mentality that is a centerpiece of his campaign. If he can get away with apologizing for this country while campaigning for POTUS, imagine the amount of apologies to foreign nations and ‘victim’ groups that will be coming if he secures the office. Contrary to the hopes of many Americans, we will see the victim merchants expand their enterprises under a potential Obama presidency.
This list is intended to motivate voters to cast their ballot for Senator McCain and Governor Palin. We can and will win this election, but a reminder of the consequences associated with losing is healthy.
